Q. What are the development’s roads like?
A. This is an important question to ask when you’re thinking of purchasing NC mountain property. The roads at Emerald Mountain Estates will have no more than a 17% grade, and will be comprised of Tar and Chip. This is similar to asphalt,
but lower maintenance, durable, and provides excellent traction to its rougher surface. Tar and Chip drives are generally more attractive than asphalt, and require much less maintenance as there is no need to seal them.

Q. How do I get power and water?

Q. What is the environment like?
A. There are few areas of the country as peaceful and beautiful as the North Carolina Mountains. Our development is set right in the heart of the Blue Ridge
Mountains, and abounds with plant and animal life. Oak trees and sycamores are scattered throughout the property, along with many other species of native hardwoods and evergreens. Our property borders the famous Pisgah National Forest, so there is no shortage of native wildlife in and around the development. It’s rare to step outside in the mornings and not hear a variety of birds singing, and it’s certainly not uncommon to see deer, foxes, rabbits, squirrels, or even an occasional black bear.

Q. What is the weather like?
A. One of the best things about the mountains
is the climate. Some people forget what it’s
like to experience four distinct seasons. Spring
is always beautiful, and the bright flowers and
fresh green foliage are a welcome sight after
the winter months. Summer is truly beautiful and
relatively mild. It’s rare to see the
thermometer reach above 85 degrees in the day,
and the nights are cool and pleasant. Fall is
many people’s favorite season. The trees are
alive with a natural fireworks display of reds,
yellows, and oranges that attracts visitors from
all over the nation. Winter can be one of the
most exciting times to be in the mountains. The
temperatures rarely dip below the low 40’s,
however, it is not uncommon to see a few
significant snowfalls. In fact, there are four
ski resorts close by in the High Country.
